Former GOP congresswoman to start lobbying firm

By Kevin Bogardus - 10/27/10 11:37 AM ET

Former Rep. Susan Molinari (R-N.Y.) is launching her own lobbying firm.

In a press release late Tuesday, Molinari announced she was starting a new firm called Susan Molinari Strategies. The firm will focus on lobbying, message development and counseling for corporations working on social responsibility and diversity.

“Over the past decade, I’ve provided personalized and effective federal advocacy and message development on behalf of hundreds of interests, ranging from Fortune 500 companies to trade groups to governments,” Molinari said in a statement. “My priority is personalized, hands-on assistance to clients who require in depth solutions to their federal relations challenges.”

After her father, former Rep. Guy Molinari (R-N.Y.), left Congress to become borough president of Staten Island, Molinari was elected to his seat in 1990. Molinari was the keynote speaker at the 1996 Republican Convention and served until 1997, when she resigned to join CBS as a television journalist.

She later joined K Street, starting her own firm in 1998. Later, she became head of the Washington Group. Before starting her latest venture, she was working at Bracewell & Giuliani.

“I’ve truly enjoyed working with the outstanding professionals at Bracewell and Giuliani and look forward to collaborating with them on important projects in the days ahead,” Molinari said.
