Former Blue Dog joins lobby shop

By Kevin Bogardus - 02/16/11 01:00 AM ET

Former Rep. Allen Boyd (D-Fla.) has joined a lobbying firm.

Boyd, a Blue Dog Democrat who lost his reelection bid last November, will be a senior adviser to the Twenty-First Century Group, Inc.

“Having known and worked with Allen Boyd for over a decade, I am very enthusiastic about adding him to our team at Twenty-First Century Group," said former Rep. Jack Fields (R-Texas), founder and CEO of the lobby firm, in a statement. "He brings with him a definitive knowledge of the legislative process having served seven terms in the U.S. House of Representatives. His experience on the Appropriations and Budget Committees will prove invaluable in accomplishing the goals of our clients."

"I am genuinely thrilled to join the highly-regarded staff at Twenty-First Century Group. The firm has a strong track record of integrity in delivering results for their clients and I eagerly anticipate furthering those efforts," Boyd said.

Boyd is one of several lawmakers from last Congress who have gone onto K Street since leaving Capitol Hill.
