Top Cantor aide departing for Financial Services Forum

By Erik Wasson - 06/29/12 07:58 AM ET

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor's (R-Va.) communications director is departing to join the Financial Services Forum, The Hill has confirmed.

Laena Fallon will become vice president for communications at FSF, Forum President Rob Nichols said Friday.

“Laena brings to the Forum strong communication expertise, national media experience and a sophisticated understanding of Capitol Hill,” he said in an emailed statement. “She will be an extraordinary asset for our members as we go about communicating the important role the financial sector plays in economic growth and job creation.”

Fallon came to Cantor's office after working for former Sen. Judd Gregg (R-N.H.), who served as ranking member on the Senate Budget Committee.

“I look forward to joining an organization focused on addressing the top financial and economic challenges facing our country,” she says in the press release.

Fallon has played a key role in shaping the GOP's message during the massive budget battles with the White House since the 2010 elections. Another top Cantor messaging man, Brad Dayspring, left in May after internal conflicts. He now works for the GOP's YG Action Fund.

Earlier this week, the White House's top budget spokesman, Ken Baer, announced he is leaving his post.

Fallon joins FSF in August.
