Privacy is dead — Big Brother is everywhere

By Brent Budowsky - 04/22/11 11:29 AM ET

From the big arms of the federal government to the heavy hands of corporate conglomerates there is no such thing, anymore, of privacy in America.

It is time for a national movement combining the left and the right, liberals and libertarians, and everyone else in America to join together to end this invasion into our personal lives.

Big Brother is everywhere, and by Big Brother I mean government and business.

Big Brother wants to know where you are walking on the street, who you call on the phone, what Internet searches you do, what products you buy, what food you eat, what emails you send, what magazines you read, what causes you believe in, what websites you frequent, what countries you visit on vacation, what medicines you take for whatever illnesses you have, where you bank, how much money you have, what books you buy, and even what condoms or birth control you buy at the pharmacy of your choice.

Because governments have become gargantuan, because corporate conglomerates have become omnipresent, and because technology has advanced so rapidly and intrusively, it is factually accurate to say:

There is more power to destroy your privacy today than anything ever dreamed of by the Gestapo under the fascist Hitler or the KGB under the Soviet communists.

I do not want my privacy destroyed by governments that want to monitor my behavior or companies that seek my money. How about you? Isn't it high time we put a stop to the war against our privacy that has become an everyday fact of American life today?
