Memorial Day appreciation

By Armstrong Williams - 05/25/12 09:39 AM ET

Have you ever stopped to think about the many who sacrificed their lives in order to give us the blessings of boundless freedom we enjoy?

This weekend we should reflect on the sacrifices that many continue to make in providing us with that enviable freedom.

It sometime does us good to pause and think about all the blessings that we continue to have in our lives. We live in a country where significant freedom for the individual still exists. We can freely move from one state to the next, change our jobs, buy whatever we can and cannot afford without having to obtain permission.

If you are able to walk about and enjoy good health, that is an amazing gift that is often overlooked until you're on your sick bed. Many of these blessings that we take for granted are not enjoyed by people in other parts of the world, including the luxury of being able to choose our leaders and having significant changes in philosophical leadership in a bloodless manner.

This is not to say that we don't have serious problems, but if we all begin to make ourselves aware of the good that continues and work together to improve upon our situation, the bright star of America will continue to rise.
