Tony Snow's Next Big Battle

By Bill Press - 03/28/07 07:09 AM ET
After all the talk about Elizabeth Edwards, here’s more bad news: White House spokesman Tony Snow’s cancer has also come back, and spread from the abdomen into the liver.

Enough already! I’ve read the book, but I still don’t understand why so many bad things happen to so many good people. And yes, I include Tony Snow on my list of good people.

Sure, we disagree on almost all the issues, and we have for a long time. I’ve debated the issues on his radio show; he’s been a guest on mine. And a few times, we went out on the road together as a left/right dog-and-pony show.

Tony’s a true believer on the right, just like I’m a true believer on the left. But he’s also a fun guy to hang out with, never takes himself too seriously, and is devoted to his wife and family.

In fact, I was sorry to see Tony become White House press secretary because I knew how good he’d be on the job. As he proved to be. And as, God willing, he’ll continue to be for another year and a half.

Tony won his first round with cancer. If anybody can win a second round, he can.

Fight the good fight, Tony. We’re all counting on you.
