Short Memories

It amazes me how short the memory of the American people can be. Say what you must about President Bush and his recent press conference, no one can ever say he lacks courage, conviction and leadership.
Since the 9/11 attacks on American soil, there has not been one terrorist attack on American soil. If Bush is going to be blamed for all the failings of the war, than he must be credited and praised for the successes.
While many of us can’t fathom how Bush is going to change the war within 90 days in Iraq, he’s certainly right when he says, “I believe that success in Baghdad will have success in helping us secure the homeland.”
Bush is now convinced that the highest levels of Tehran’s government are responsible for Iranian weapons in Iraq that are killing American soldiers.
Bush admitted he doesn’t know “whether or not the head leaders of Iran” were involved. But here’s my point: Either they knew or didn’t know. Many Americans are reminded about the faulty intelligence regarding weapons of mass destruction in Iraq that has cost over 3,000 American soldiers their lives and billions of wasted dollars.
It’s definitely legitimate to question the president on his approaches of involving the American military in conflict; however, we shouldn’t so quickly judge his presidency a failure. History could very possibly prove that this president was right, and the media with its biases failed this country miserably in its selected reporting to support its agenda at the time.
