She’s in. And, she says, she’s in to win.
Indeed, Hillary Clinton’s making history as the first former first lady to go after her husband’s old job — and the first woman for president with a serious chance of winning. And make no mistake about it: If Hillary wins the nomination, she can win the presidency.
Sure, a lot of people loathe her. But a lot of people love her, too. She’s smart. She’s articulate. She’s done a good job as senator from New York. She has a large and loyal network of supporters. She’ll raise more money than anyone else in the race. And she’s tough. Unlike John Kerry, Hillary will respond immediately to any personal attacks.
And husband Bill will be a big help to her campaign, not a hindrance, as so many pundits argue. After six years of Bush rule and ruin, those eight Clinton years are looking better and better.
All those people today who say that Hillary can never be elected president are the same ones who once said she could never be elected senator. They were wrong then, and they’re wrong now.
Because she’s so cautious on the war, Hillary’s toughest task will be winning her party’s nomination. But if she becomes the Democratic nominee, she will be the strong favorite to become the next president of the United States.
