Obama's threat not to campaign for Dems voting no on ObamaCare
The Daily Telegraph newspaper in London is reporting that President Barack Obama will refuse to campaign for any congressional Democrat who dares to vote against healthcare reform — Obama-style.
While Obama and his team apparently seem to still possess the post-election '08
arrogance with such a "refusal," it is likely more congressional
Democrats would rather consider this a promise they hope he keeps
rather than a threat to fear. President Obama will be about as
welcome as a skunk at a garden party for many incumbent congressional Democrats
running for reelection. Obama is about as unpopular as ObamaCare, and
he is taking many incumbent Democrats into an election defeat in November over
the bill. However, while his intention was to push more Democrats into voting
yay, he may very well have handed them a nail for the ObamaCare coffin.
By throwing down the gauntlet with such a petulant threat, the president is making it oh-so-easy for Democrats to ignore the White House’s arm-twisting and political bartering. I'd bet money many Democrats will sigh a sigh of relief if the Obama threat isn't ignored by the mainstream media and it gains the public attention it should. They may then be free to stand on principle — or at least on fear of defeat by the voters in November — and kick ObamaCare to the curb once and for all.
