The sequester imposed cuts in the defense budget that are doing real damage to our security. Many Republicans agree with this. There may be an opening for some bipartisan deal to end or cut back the sequester, by restoring funding to key defense programs, social programs and job-creating programs.

There should be, and will be, a careful analysis of whether DOD sequester cuts contributed to mass murder Monday. I offer no opinion today, except that the matter should be carefully examined. It is terribly wrong to impose draconian sequester cuts against defense, jobs and helping the poor.

America needs a bipartisan program to repeal the sequester. Now.
