Do they understand us as Americans?

By Armstrong Williams - 11/05/09 10:29 AM ET

I was reading Karl Marx recently. Marx wrote about how to turn a country from a capitalist nation into a socialist state. Step 1: destroy its economy. Step 2: make the people dependent on government. Step 3: maintain an atmosphere of class warfare. Once that happens, the government has inexorable control over the masses and can manipulate them as they please.

I wonder how much Marx’s writings have influenced the Obama administration. I don’t think I’m being paranoid when I say that it seems as if the Obama administration is pulling plays directly from the Karl Marx playbook.

Why would you destroy the small-business owner if you really want to create economic stability? How do you save the American economy by giving billions of dollars to corporate giants that are rushing headlong into collapse, instead of funneling it directly to small-business owners who could be the engine of economic revival?

Do we really see our values reflected in the policies espoused by the president, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid? Do they understand us as Americans? Didn’t they see the handwriting on the wall when the Republicans recaptured the traditionally Democratic state of New Jersey during this week’s special elections?

Just because exit polls show that people still like the president, it doesn’t mean that they agree with the socialist policies he is foisting on the country. Maybe this president really does believe that the public is a gaggle of inferiors who cling to their guns and Bibles. Maybe it is time that we sent a message that we still believe in the values that made this country great — even if our increasingly socialist president does not.

It is amazing to me how this administration is allowed to get away with this. I seems to me that, at the very least, it would be unconstitutioal . Or are we no longer abiding by that treasured document.BY Walter Baker on 11/05/2009 at 13:02
AW - How many classes in your educational experience did you ever hear of Karl Marx? How much reseach did you teachers or professors require on KM? KM's name was resureccected by the media by both Dems and Reps during Pres Obama's campaign. The timing is just a little too convenient…I really don't think we have to be concerned about KM. If there was any reason for fear there would be an enormous uprising by experts on the topic. Provide proof not theory AW. I think bringing up KM is just stirring the pot of fear soup. Also, I doubt if any Jersey voters were thinking about KM last Tuesday night at the voting booth.BY JFK-HRC on 11/05/2009 at 13:52

Obama falls somewhere between Karl Marx and Osama bin Laden.BY Pizda on 11/06/2009 at 01:33
That is Obama's goal to turn us into a Soviet Union So[***]t Government! That is who he hung out with and that is goal!BY William on 11/06/2009 at 11:30
Sadly we have Obama for 3 more years, but I would suggest that the majority of congress dust off their resumes. 2010 will be a thorough house cleaning in Washington.BY Cindy on 11/06/2009 at 13:32
All of you have it wrong - or incomplete. Obama is a Christian So[***]t, blending the evil ideas of Jesus Christ and Karl Marx alike. Both claim that one man's need is a claim on the rights and wealth of others. Thus it's no coincidence that Obama's communications director (propaganda chief), Anita Dunn, says that Mao and Mother Theresa are her top two favorite "political philosophers" (using the designation loosely).BY Richard Salsman on 11/09/2009 at 09:24
This is exactly what is going on in policy and for anyone to deny it then they have their blinders on. Armstrong Williams hit the ball right out of the ballpark with this article. I am an independent conservative voter who considers president Obama a very likable person(when he isn't labeling me an anti-gov extremist as of lately b/c I maynot agree with a policy that he wishes to be enforced) but his policies of sharing the wealth comes straight out of K Marx playbook. The means to the end is to have all peoples dependent on government for all ones needs. If you donot agree with their policy, or policies then you donot eat nor have so called security. Mock this if you will, that is exactly the intended use of Marxist agenda with the ultimate goal to control the people and the will of the people. Of course with that said, the upper eshelons of the rich get richer and the poor are subserviant to the master which in this case will be the government. We as a people have already objectively evidenced how our elected leaders have displayed utter contempt and disdain for the "commoners" and have elevated themselves above them, Leaders may have good intentions of representing the peoples voices when they are just starting out , but their innate human greed gets tempted and most succumb to this temptation. Notice how many representatives begin their public life nonelitist millionaires,bu t given a few years they are multimillionair es. Did they accummulate millions on a paid public servants salary? And if they didn't get rich on this public servant salary did your voice of dissent get lost and substituted by the corporations lobbiests? When we as a people finally learn to accept truth at face value then we stand a much better chance of resisting these Marxist policies of not only controlling the american people, but the people from around the world. This oppressive policy that goes under the au[***]e of "for the public good" is now on a global scale and not just here in our own country and it isnot for the good of anyone who cherishes their freedoms.BY Jane on 11/13/2009 at 09:54
The conservatives are completely and thoroughly paroid. They all thrive on fear mongering and distorted views of the real world. Moreover, why don't they try reading. We have great libraries in this country and we also have the internet. But more importantly, one can borrow books free at the libraries. Try it conservatives, it might just enlightedn you.BY roberto gutierrez on 11/14/2009 at 16:09
