Morality and education

By Armstrong Williams - 02/24/12 10:56 AM ET

President Madison once opined that if you educate a man without teaching him morals, you create a menace to society.

With education you give people the tools to have tremendous effects on their environment. If that power is not tempered by morality, the changes that are wrought are not likely to be beneficial.

For this reason we should re-examine the deletion of the teaching of values in our public schools. If our young people don't understand and appreciate the difference between right and wrong, we will continue to experience the deterioration of the high standards of morality that once characterized our society.
