"The only way politicians will act is if awareness raises to a level to make them feel that it's a necessity," former Vice President Al GoreAlbert (Al) Arnold GoreKim Jong Un’s killer Trump trap Cuomo: 'Offshore drilling is a really, really dumb idea' Left-wing, right-wing: The case for realignment of political labels MORE recently told a group at Oxford University.

Is anyone unaware of global warming, or Al Gore's feelings on the matter? Frankly, it's hard to read the newspaper or watch television without having Al Gore's awareness thrown at you. Want to watch the Academy Awards? There's Al Gore, Oscar in hand, receiving a standing O while raising your awareness. Watching MTV? You may catch a glimpse of the global farce/awareness-raising Live Earth concerts. Ditto the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony and countless other events. Not to mention Gore's own awareness-raisin' television network, Current — a veritable Fox News of Awareness.

In fact, we're so aware of global warming that we can't even call it that anymore. It's now called climate change, in case you weren't aware. And while reasonable people can disagree with the causes and effects of climate change, if there is such a thing, unreasonable people would disagree with that.

But it you want to raise awareness about Gore's or other prominent environmental activists' or organizations' carbon footprints — presumably Gore didn't take a sailboat to the United Kingdom and for some unknown reason left his car idling while telling a Washington audience of the dangers of air conditioning, the left doesn't want anyone aware of that. It's an inconvenient truth.
