Honduras: A Friend in Need

It is ironic that when democracy is thwarted by an unfriendly Islamic theocracy in Iran alleged to be fixing presidential elections, the Obama administration’s initial reaction is to refrain from criticism, but when the nation’s potential friends stage a coup ousting a Chavez leftist trying to protect constitutional democracy in Honduras, the administration’s initial reaction is to be critical.
Does this send a signal to the nation’s potential friends that it is better to be an enemy of the U.S. than a friend? Just think about the bloody, outrageous chain of events taking place in tiny Honduras. You be the judge of this Obama double standard.
