Nonplussed by the Health Reform Bill

I rise to agree with fellow Pundits Blogger Lanny Davis, who — as a Democrat — has bravely noted that President Barack Obama's healthcare plan is confusing. Just what is this "Obamacare" plan people keep criticizing, anyway?
Davis points out that there were originally several principles, including: allowing people to keep their current insurance; covering everyone, even those with pre-existing conditions; and enacting a mandate, subsidies for coverage and a "public option," a government plan that would compete with private plans in order to bring down costs.
Davis said he followed the coverage of the bills making their way through the House and Senate committees and still couldn't figure out which one did what. "I'd like to help the president support and enact national healthcare. But I know that to be effective, I need simple core messages to communicate — backed up by detailed facts and knowledge of what is, and is not, in the actual legislation," wrote Davis.
If Lanny Davis feels this way, imagine how the Democratic members of Congress must feel. Back at home before the angry mobs they have no answers, facts or details about what is likely to truly be in a "healthcare reform" bill, and President Obama isn't helping them.
President Obama — help Lanny Davis, help the members of your party and help yourself. Take a stand on healthcare reform before this battle is lost. You have let it get perilously close. If you want it, come and get it.
