Young people, beware! Your enormous ObamaCare tax is being imposed
The latest from insurance companies, that the Obama healthcare plan will eventually drive up current insurers’ policies to thousands of dollars, is an obvious truth. Young people will not buy medical insurance unless it becomes absolutely necessary or they are forced to do so.
The cost for health insurance premiums for young people will be close to the cost of premiums for the unhealthy older generation. Young people are beginning to face the realization that they are being forced to subsidize healthcare cost for this older generation. Many of our younger generation, frankly speaking, just don't have the financial portfolio to subsidize the older generation’s healthcare. They will choose to drop out of the system, pay whatever fine is incurred and will only seek healthcare insurance if a catastrophic situation arises.
Insurance companies cannot charge the younger person with a pre-existing condition. The cost of that person’s uninsured healthcare will be borne by the existing policyholders. Therefore, the existing healthcare premiums will rise because young people will only secure healthcare insurance if they have serious or expensive medical conditions.
The more fascinating question is why are the healthcare insurance companies exposing this issue at the eleventh hour? I suspect it's because they are now realizing that the government is backing away from a truly universal healthcare policy where all people must purchase insurance. You can't have universal health insurance unless you force all people to pay. It's against the American way to force citizens to purchase products and services they absolutely don't want. My fellow Americans, this is the irreconcilable dilemma of universal healthcare.
