CNN: 61 percent support public option

By Brent Budowsky - 10/21/09 03:25 PM ET

In the end there is no way Congress does not pass a public option with this much support.

The debate is over. The public has decided. The public option supporters have won the debate, in a knockout.

The Hill is reporting that Rockefeller is warming to the opt-out compromise. As long as the PO is a robust one, that could be a workable solution, providing cover to moderate and skittish Dems—they can punt the vote to their respective statehouses..red state wingnuts can deny their constituents affordable healthcare at the risk of being voted out while blue states enjoy lower health bills…BY Theard on 10/21/2009 at 17:56
I would really like to know who participates in your polls—-because, quite frankly, I don't believe them. I would also like to know if those you poll have any inkling about how this is "public option" is going to work—not even congress or the senate can explain it. Why don't you try a new tactic—-get the truth! You might find it refreshing! I would also suggest a more thorough investigation of government insurance and how effective it has been in other nations. Having visited a number of them I can assure you, it is less than satisfactory and that's being generous.BY pam brewer on 10/21/2009 at 18:40
It is absolutely true that we are beating them down and our Public Option is now the only option the infidels face. Anyone who tells you differently or objects is infested with fleas and lying like the dog that they are. The PO is ours for the taking. We are winning and have already won. 61 Senators in our pocket. We will prevail! Pay no attention to those who preach dissent. They will be vanquished.BY BaghdadBrent on 10/21/2009 at 18:53
Brent, there was a recent poll in N.Korea and 100% of participants approved the job their President was doing. Just before operation Iraqi Freedom, Saddam Hussein received 99% voter confidence (1% of respondents were probably executed). In Russia, Putin hovers around 85% approval ratings. While 61% is a good start, there is still room to go to match the tough guys above.BY Bzdashek on 10/21/2009 at 20:13
Here's an article from The Hill today which shows that only 37% of the public can even identify what the public option is and that makes any poll claiming a majority of the public supports it look like a slice of baloney. I'm waiting for Brent to claim The Hill is filled with teabaggers, 3, 2, 1 … http://thehill.com/homenews/house/64029-medicare-for-everyone An August poll by Penn, Schoen and Berland Associates showed that only 37 percent of those polled correctly identified the public option from a list of three choices.BY Robert Rosencrans on 10/21/2009 at 21:11
Max Baucus, Republicans, deathers, gun nuts, insurance companies, and friends made it happen, by pushing "public option" into the public discourse through the month of August and beyond. It was an amazing thing to see.Our liberal griping alone would not have sufficed. Too many people call for marches in the streets, forgetting that marching in the street is, in large part, a way of getting your opponents to abuse you in front of cameras; in our case, the opponents were so eager to abuse that we hardly had to do anything but repeat the phrase "public option" whenever possible.BY Barry Schwartz on 10/21/2009 at 21:45
Hey their Brent, maybe you should read some of the other articles here on the Hill like the problems that Harry Reid seems to be running into on the senate - where he could only manage 47 votes for the Doc Fix amendment. Or Nancy Pelosi's problems with getting the Blue Dogs to fall in line behind the public option that you seem so enamored by. You know maybe it's not the Republican obstructionists , maybe it's the the obstructionist democrats.BY Patrick Michael on 10/21/2009 at 21:59
Source, please.BY Justin  on 10/21/2009 at 22:16
Brent since u ran away on the ABC poll after i showed the problem with the internals should you not wait untill CNN releases this poll tomorrow? What if the internals say 35% Dem and 17% Rep ? Will that be a valid poll? Why are u like a carnival speaker with zero curiosity, zero research, zero critical thinking? Or are you just a Democrat puppet?BY Jon on 10/21/2009 at 22:50
