Healthcare proposal provides backdoor amnesty for illegal immigrants

President Obama's national healthcare bill mandates that employers must provide health coverage to all employees. This proposal would seemingly include coverage for tens of millions of illegal immigrants.

This is an outrage. There are close to 60 million illegal immigrants in this country. Effectively forcing Americans to subsidize cradle-to-grave healthcare costs for these people would cost U.S. taxpayers billions of dollars annually, while further incentivizing illegal immigration.

This is a public policy nightmare. Moreover, it would do so at a time when nearly every American citizen is struggling for his or her economic well-being.

During his campaign run, Obama promised that his healthcare proposal would not benefit illegal aliens. Yet that is precisely what his current proposal would accomplish, by forcing employers to cover illegal citizens who obtained false identifying information.

This is no different than if President Obama levied an illegal alien health tax on the public. This cannot go unnoticed. In these difficult economic times, it is a slap in the face to American citizens to force them to underwrite healthcare for the illegal aliens who are taking their jobs.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOI can barely afford minimum coverage for myself. My grandchildren go without coverage and pay cash at the doctors office. I refuse to give notice to any health care bill that passes if it includes a public option. They can just put me in jail. I don't care anymore. People who have committed horrible crimes agains humanity get treated better than American citizens who work and pay taxes. Enough is enough. AW - Illegal immigration may be a problem, but not providing healthcare to them threatens the health of all Americans and visitors. Do you really want your food servers, housekeepers, plumbers helpers, hotel workers, food handlers, delivery people etc… exposing communicable diseases to the rest of America? Just a few examples: HIV, VD, Hepatitis, and untreated psychotic dangers to society, unvaccinated carriers of disease? This is not to say that every illegal is sick, but who should be responsible when they get injured on the job as well…? The borders are permiable because it is synergistic to both sides. Not treating their health will create a monster of a problem. ( I am in the business — I know. ) Perhaps the bigger problem is to keep illegal drugs from permiating our borders. People, we need to contact our Senators and Reps and let them know Americans are against any type of amnesty or free healthcare for illegals. We need to remind them that elections are being held next year and we will hold them accountable. People that support illegals do not represent what is best for Americans. 60 - million illegal immigrants?The commonly accepted numbers by both PEW and FAIR (representing both sides of the debate) are in the 11 to 12 million range. I've seen credible estimates as high as 20 million (Bears Stern). I've seen wild numbers as high as 30 million. This is the first time I've seen anybody claim 60 million. That is 20% of our population. Could you please cite a source?In my opinion 12 million is way to high. If they walk into an emergency room we should stop the bleeding or otherwise stabilize their condition and then they should be arrested and deported.BY jackbenimble on 11/30/2009 at 16:39
Strangely, if employers had to "provide coverage" for illegal aliens, they would have admit to employing them and receive a visit from the INS. If they don't provide insurance, when the INS catches up with those employers, they would be forced to pay stiff fines for not following the law. Either way, this actually helps enforcement of immigration laws. This policy would be similar to the "drug stamp" laws for illegal drugs. This editorial is ridiculous anyway, it insinuates there might be something in the house bill, then the writer goes into full fantasy mode without looking at the true ramifications of the law.BY Andrew Schoen on 11/30/2009 at 17:12
Mr. Williams,60 million illegal immigrants? cite your source please?All of your paragraphs contain information that is not accurate… this was very irresponsible and ignorant blog to post… I'm sure right wing nuts will eat it up though…Hopefull y like the rest of us you want America to recover and become a better place… but it's time for some of y'all to get the facts straight and understand realistic approaches to dealing with our problems. What does it take for people to see that illegal aliens are destroying this Country?
