One thing’s clear — the polarizing politics of nationalizing one-sixth of our
country’s economy won’t easily dissipate. If the president isn’t careful, he
could alienate even Democratic allies at the state and local levels — all
facing excruciatingly tight budget woes and none too eager to swallow more
problems in the name of party loyalty.
Many are beginning to wonder whether the passage of healthcare has signaled the opening of Pandora’s box in a rapid move toward socialism and government control over their lives. Will government eventually determine what books are read in school? What you eat? Where you live? What car you drive? Whom you marry? What you watch on TV?
Are we finally witnessing the null of American life and the end of the greatest economic and military might ever known to man? What a sad and pathetic way for our once-great nation to be remembered in the history books.
