GOP Double-Standard for Larry Craig

What a week!
I go away on vacation and what happens? Alberto Gonzales resigns. Michael Vick pleads guilty. Leona Helmsley leaves $12 million to her dog. Tony Snow resigns. And Larry Craig gets caught doing the gay two-step in an airport men’s room.
What a week!
Larry Craig’s the saddest story of all. The fact that he made a career of opposing gay rights, gays in the military and gay marriage — only to be outed as gay himself — means he went through life both a gay-hater and a self-hater.
And notice how quickly Craig was dumped on by his fellow Republicans. The same gang that rushed to defend David Vitter when his name showed up on the D.C. Madam’s list couldn’t wait to condemn Larry Craig when his name showed up on the Minneapolis police blotter.
Poor Larry Craig. If only he had paid for sex with a female prostitute, instead of trying to have free sex with another man, he’d still be a United States senator.
