My congressman is nuts

By A.B. Stoddard - 10/30/09 11:59 AM ET

There is much to ponder today — an escalation in Afghanistan, the disaster that is Pakistan, elections Tuesday that could hit Democrats hard and historic healthcare reform hanging in the balance.

But I am going with Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.). I know he has had too much press and that you have already read too much about him this week, but I want you to know that someone is fighting back against the weeping, offensive showman who represents the 8th district of Florida.

To answer www.congressmanwithguts.com, Grayson's site that boasts his willingness to stand up to opponents and never back down and has helped raise more than $200,000, there is now www.mycongressmanisnuts.com, a political action committee started by outraged residents of Central Florida who are desperately hoping to pitch Grayson in next year's election. That won't be easy — so far the GOP hasn't found anyone willing to take on a stop-at-nothing, bombastic buffoon like Grayson.

But some of his constituents have clearly had enough. In announcing their protest, the PAC states that Grayson's "self-indulgent behavior has paralyzed his ability to serve as an advocate for the citizens of Central Florida.” The PAC noted Grayson's description of the GOP health reform plan as wanting sick people to "die quickly," of our nation's 47 million uninsured as a "holocaust" and of Republicans as "knuckle-dragging Neanderthals." Also noted is a quote from Grayson that "no one cares about bipartisanship" — "Alan Grayson only cares about Alan Grayson appearing on YouTube."

Well said.

How can anyone vote for a democratic rep.? I'm shocked that there are so many people out there who have forgotten what morals are. Just look at all the billons of dollars sent on garage just this year. Cap and Trade? Democrates voted YES. 787billon dollar stimulas package (that did nothing) ? Democrates voted yes. Gov. controlled healthcare? Democrates vote yes. What the [***] is going on with you people?BY James Dew on 10/30/2009 at 15:29
MR .DREW, WHAT HAPPENED TO PEOPLE WHO DON'T HAVE MORALS ABOUT HEALH INSURANCE?I AGREE WITH REP.GRAYSON ABOUT WHAT REPUBLICANS WANT TO DO ABOUT HEALTHCARE.I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT THE [***] IS YOUR SOLUTION FOR HEALTHCARE.THE ONLY REASON YOU DON'T HAVE A PLAN IS BECAUSE OF GREEDY RUPUBLICAN'S WHO WANT THE MONEY FOR THEMSELVES AND FOR BIG CORPORATIONS.BY RICH HUTCHISON on 10/30/2009 at 17:46
Grayson is a nut that's for sure, i hope you guys find someone to take him down, if you look at NY-23 at the real conservative running he is no politician either, look outside of the box for real conservative values.BY ANN on 10/30/2009 at 17:49
Hey Rich…Am I greedy because I want to keep the money I work for? Where does it say that I owe you or anyone a healthcare policy? Spend your own money if you wish but stop being a generous do gooder with what I sweat to earn.BY Larry Price on 10/30/2009 at 21:39
Rich Hutchison! Before you have a heart attack, check to see who got the most campaign money,Straight across the board it was the DemocratsBY terry gee on 10/30/2009 at 21:49
What are the necessary steps to recall a US representative?BY BAK2FUTURE on 10/31/2009 at 00:48
Rich Hutchinson: I am afraid Terry is right. The USA Today showed that lobbying money is way up in 2009 with over 2/3rds going to Democrats. Maybe if you read about Joe Biden's ties to the credit card industry and trial lawyers (who own so many Democrats that Tort reform will never see the light of day) you would have a different opinion. Now as far as Alan Grayson is concerned, first of all he is one of the wealthiest members of congress with a net worth of over 43 Million dollars - he only acts like he is poor and cannot afford a quality suit (he dresses like Al Capone) or anyone to groom his bushy eyebrows. Anyway, he comes out with his first attack and lo and behold his donations (which were never much to begin with) spike! Well if being ignorant is profitable, Grayson is on his way to considerable wealth. Calling a female lobbyist a "whore" is only the latest of his increasingly boorish act. Alan Grayson describes himself as the only "Democrat with Guts", he sure can't lay any claim to brains.BY Patrick Michael on 10/31/2009 at 01:19
'm not sure what is going on outside of California, but my way of life has not changed one bit except for the cost of certain items like gas, food, utilities. So I'm not sure where this "recession" is taking place. I think the problem is that too many people make three key mistakes. (1) the take every penny of equity out of their home the minute someone will give them a loan. (2) They carry balances on their unsecured credit, and (3) way too many people do not save enough or anything at all so when they do lose their job they're in bad shape almost immediately. If you don't have at least 18 months of cash on hand to get through times like these, or a flood, or a tornado etc. you've been careless and not very responsible.BY Chico Brisbane on 10/31/2009 at 07:08
I would love to know Ms Stoddard's opinion of Michele Bachmann (Crazy s[***]y), Trent Franks (birther and tenther) and the equally outrageous statements made by several GOP lawmakers this past Summer. After years of spineless Dems who refuse to challenge the GOP, the good gentleman from FLA is a welcome reprieve. You are seeing a new crop of articulate and intelligent Dems, Weiner also comes to mind, who arent afraid to flash their progressive bona fides. Lets hope this is a new trend..BY Theard on 10/31/2009 at 10:23
go to GRADEGOV.com you can grade your reps and even send a letter that gets to them more directly than calling a telphone douche that will prolly argue with you if your not the same party.BY tranzwarr on 10/31/2009 at 10:51
