Sarah Palin train to nowhere

By Bill Press - 11/19/09 10:07 AM ET

I know, I know, it’s hard to contain your excitement, because Sarah Palin’s book is finally in the bookstores. My advice: Run, run, run — in the opposite direction!

On MSNBC, I was asked: What do you think of the big crowd she got in Grand Rapids, Mich.? My response: “Big deal. Americans always love a freak show. They turned out to see the bearded lady and the two-headed calf. They’ll turn out to see Sarah Barracuda.”

But what do they get and where’s this train going? Nothing and nowhere.

If people are dumb enough to buy the book, they get no ideas on all the big issues facing America. Because she doesn’t have any. Instead, they get nothing but a string of complaints about the 2008 campaign, all of which she blames on McCain staffers. Nothing, of course, was her own fault.

No doubt, Palin will sell a lot of books and make a lot of money. But, once the book tour’s over and the crowds disappear, this train’s going back to the station. Empty. Because nobody but the lunatic fringe takes Sarah Palin seriously.

Not even Republicans would dare nominate Sarah Palin for president. She proved she wasn’t ready to be vice president in 2008. She’ll be even less ready to be president in 2012.
