News bites: Obama to name Labor secretary Monday

The president is expected to nominate assistant U.S. Attorney General Thomas Perez to succeed former Labor Secretary Hilda Solis, The Washington Post reports.

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission is investigating suspected “wash trades” at high-speed firms, according to Reuters.

The $616 million settlement between the Securities and Exchange Commission and SAC Capital over insider-trading allegations is drawing scrutiny from the firm’s competitors, The New York Times reports.

In Britain, lawmakers have struck a deal on a proposal to regulate newspapers, according to The Times.
