News bites: Microsoft faces big fine over web browser violation

The European Union is leveling a $731 million fine against the software company for failing to offer consumers a choice of web browsers, Reuters reports.

The US. State Department foresees an active role in helping the energy industry implement new rules stemming from the Dodd-Frank financial reform law, according to The Hill's E2 Wire blog.
