News bites: Panel urges FDA to seek tougher restrictions on painkillers

A panel advising the Food and Drug Administration is recommending that the agency pursue new restrictions on prescriptions of Vicodin and other painkillers that contain hydrocodone, according to The New York Times.

Last week’s federal court ruling that limited executive recess appointment authority could negate a big chunk of the work undertaken by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Bloomberg reports.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission is pushing back the timeline on a decision on whether to restart operations at the San Onofre nuclear power plant in Southern California, The Associated Press reports.

The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission is weighing increased oversight of swap-to-future conversion, Bloomberg reports.
