The National Marine Fisheries Service is reducing the commercial trip limit for vermilion snapper in the South Atlantic. From Oct. 16 through the rest of the year, ships will be limited to 500 pounds of the fish.
“This trip limit reduction is necessary to protect the South Atlantic vermilion snapper resource,” the agency said.
The Coast Guard is setting up a safety zone in Galveston, Texas, to protect the public while repairs are made to a local bridge.
Entry into the zone will be banned unless it is specifically authorized.
