Rahm Emanuel taps former DC transportation chief for Chicago post
Chicago Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel has tapped the former head of the District of Columbia’s Department of Transportation for the same job in the Windy City.
The website Transportation Nation reported Tuesday that former D.C. transportation chief Gabe Klein would fill the same role in Emanuel's nascent administration in Chicago.
Emanuel, the former Obama White House chief of staff and Illinois congressman, was said to be drawn to Klein's bike-sharing programs in the nation's capital.
Emanuel is set to take over from current Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley on May 16.
