Ford CEO calls Obama business meeting 'constructive'
Ford CEO Alan Mulally said President Obama's meeting with him and other business leaders was "constructive," according to a Detroit newspaper report.
Mulally was joined at the White House on Wednesday by executives from companies such as American Express, Wal-Mart, General Electric and Procter & Gamble. The meeting was an effort by Obama to reset his relationship with the business community after an often-contentious first term.
Mulally said in an interview with the Detroit News that he came away from the meeting feeling that Obama was "very committed to [reaching] a solution to the fiscal cliff."
"We focused on what we all can do together to find a solution to the fiscal cliff but also to continue to create an environment where we can continue to enhance economic development," Mulally said to the paper. "I was honored to participate. It was a very, very constructive meeting."
Obama is scheduled to meet with congressional Republican leaders Friday to discuss the fiscal negotiations after meeting with business leaders and liberal groups this week.
