Republicans in Congress have accused the Obama administration of showing favoritism to union workers in the deal, which became a flashpoint during the campaign between the president and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R).
Elsewhere this week, lawmakers on the House Transportation Committee will debate water issues.
The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee’s Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation Subcommittee will hold a hearing on Tuesday about regulations in the maritime industry.
The panel will be looking at the “impacts on safety, security, jobs and the environment” of the regulations, officials with the panels said.
The hearing is scheduled to be the first of a two-part series of meetings the maritime transportation panel is planning to hold about regulations that are affecting U.S. waterways.
Federal Maritime Commission Chairman Mario Cordero, acting Maritime Administrator Paul “Chip” Jaenichen and Coast Guard Assistant Commandant for Prevention Policy Rear Admiral Joseph Servidio are scheduled to testify.
