Report: Airline pilots removed for arguing in cockpit

By Keith Laing - 08/21/12 12:11 PM ET

A pair of pilots for Qantas Airways has been removed from duty after arguing before taking off from a U.S. airport, an Australian newspaper reported Tuesday.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported the pilots for Qantas, which is based in Sydney, got its a heated argument that was picked up on their airplane's radio system about taking off from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport last week.

The flight, which was destined for Brisbane, Australia, was delayed 18 hours because Qantas had to fly new pilots in, the paper said.

A spokesman for the airline told the newspaper that the flight was "delayed overnight as a result of severe thunderstorms in the Dallas area."

The paper has also reported that another Qantas pilot on a separate flight was prohibited from flying an airplane because she had allegedly been drinking before the flight.
