Spirit Airlines ad: ‘Romney wins’

By Keith Laing - 11/06/12 04:40 PM ET

The first call of the presidential election may have come from Spirit Airlines.

Seeking to capitalize on interest in the race between President Obama and GOP nominee Mitt Romney, Spirit is advertising a flight sale with a banner on its website that reads “Romney wins ... and so do Obama and you with these incredibly low fares!"

“Regardless of who you vote for, we all win with low fares from Spirit,” the airline ad says. “Whether you are looking for a vacation or a quick getaway, Spirit is here to help you save!”

Spirit is no stranger to referencing political events in its online advertising. The airline famously offered a "9-9-9" sale named after former Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain's signature tax reform plan.

More recently, Spirit said it had “binders full of sales” after a debate between Romney and Obama last month in which the GOP candidate made reference to reviewing "whole binders full of women" when seeking qualified applicants for positions in his cabinet as governor of Massachusetts.
