Airlines are not being left out of the online shopping bonanza known as "Cyber Monday."
Southwest and AirTran Airways, which are in the processing of merging, sent emails out Monday advertising fares as low as "$100 or less." The catch, of course, is that the fares are only good for "one day only."
Other discount airlines are getting in on the act too. Spirit Airlines is offering fares below $19.80 for members of its $9 fare club for the unofficial shopping holiday.
Analysts have projected consumers will spend more than $1 billion on websites Monday in what has come to be known as the online equivalent of "Black Friday" post-Thanksgiving sales. The National Retail Federation (NRF) has forecast that online sales will increase 12 percent from last year.
