Investment bank looks to woo transportation companies

By Keith Laing - 03/29/11 03:28 PM ET

One of the world's largest international banking firms is looking to boost its transportation clientele by hiring a Morgan Stanley executive.

London-based Barclays Capital announced Tuesday that it had hired the head of Morgan Stanley's infrastructure and transportation group, Managing Director Josh Connor.

Connor will lead Barclays global transportation banking efforts. At Morgan Stanley, he had played a role in large transportation transactions like the merger between Continental and United Airlines last year.

He also was involved in the initial public offering (IPO) of companies such as Jet Blue Airlines.

"Josh’s appointment underscores our strong commitment to the transportation sectors, which are pivotal drivers of economic expansion,” Barclays head of global corporate finance Ros Stephenson said in a statement.

Connor will start work at Barclays in July. He will be based out of the firm's New York office.
