TSA officer arrested for allegedly having gun at Orlando Airport

By Keith Laing - 05/19/11 10:45 AM ET

An employee of the Transportation Security Administration was arrested this week for allegedly having a gun at the Orlando airport.

The employee, 25-year-old Rynel Delacruz, was detained Monday night when he tried to bring the gun through the security checkpoint at the airport, the Orlando Sentinel reported Thursday, quoting police reports.

A loaded Ruger .380 handgun was found in the luggage Delacruz placed on the X-ray machine. Orlando police were called after the screener noticed the gun and called his supervisors, the paper said.

TSA told The Hill on Thursday that Delacruz no longer works for the agency.
