TSA found 800 guns in luggage in 2011

By Keith Laing - 09/28/11 04:00 PM ET

The Transportation Security Administration has discovered more than 800 guns this year in bags passengers attempted to bring through airport security, the agency said Wednesday.

Over the past weekend, 10 guns were found, as well as throwing knives in a passengers bag at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport and inert grenades carried by a passenger at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the agency said on its website blog

The No. 1 reason given by passengers who are caught, TSAs Blogger Bob wrote: I forgot what was in my bag.

Maybe it’s just me, but when I travel I am cautious about what I pack or what is in my luggage,” he wrote Wednesday. That’s apparently not the case for a lot of people out there.

Sometimes after reading the incident reports, it’s as though they’re having a gun and knife convention at the airport.
