TSA officials to testify before lawmakers

A pair of House committees will question officials from the Transportation Security Administration next week. 

The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee and the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee announced Friday that they would hold a joint hearing next Monday to consider whether TSA is "effective security or security theater."

The hearing will focus on TSA's Advanced Imaging Technology (AIT) body scanners, and its passenger behavior program known as Screening of Passengers by Observation Techniques (SPOT). The committees will also review the TSA's Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) program and other security efforts from the controversial agency.

The hearing will be chaired by Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) and Transportation Committee Chairman John Mica (R-Fla.).

TSA Assistant Administrator for Security Operations Christopher McLaughlin and Assistant Administrator for Intelligence and Analysis Stephen Sadler will be among the witnesses called to testify.

The hearing will take place Monday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. in Room 2154 of the Rayburn House Office Building.
