Boehner backs latest request for Skype
On Friday, House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) backed another request by lawmakers for permission to use Skype. He referred, via Twitter, to an editorial by Minnesota Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann published Thursday:
.@MicheleBachmann: Lift ban on Skyping b/w Congress & American people http://bit.ly/bTCIY9 speak out here http://bit.ly/dwcXmG #speakingout
House rules currently prohibit Skype as a potential threat to the security of the chamber's networks.
Republicans first requested to use Skype in late April in a letter sent to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and House Administration Committee Chairman Robert Brady (D-Pa.).
The Administration Committee says the issue is "under review."
