Meek, a House Democrat running against Rubio for retiring Sen. George LeMieux’s (R) seat, declared basketball an area of common ground Thursday morning.

Meek said, via Twitter:

Shocking! We agree RT @marcorubio: @kingjames(aka Lebron)come to Florida!

Rubio retweeted the message shortly afterward.

There was no immediate word from Gov. Charlie Crist, who is running for the seat as an Independent.

The Miami Heat have emerged as the favorite to sign Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James. James is to announce his decision on ESPN Thursday night, but the network was already reporting Thursday morning that James was leaning toward joining Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh with the Heat. The other two NBA stars and free agents said they were signing with Miami on Wednesday.

Meek is trying to beat real estate tycoon Jeff Greene in the Democratic primary. He would then face Rubio and Crist in the general election.
