Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney was in Michigan Friday to campaign for congressman and Michigan gubernatorial candidate Pete Hoekstra (R).

Romney, a Michigan native, appeared at two Hoekstra fundraisers and had lunch with the candidate in Detroit.

He tweeted:

Having a "classic" (onions, chili, mustard) at Coney Island in Detroit with @petehoekstra

Hoekstra is one of five Republicans running for the seat. Another -- state Attorney General Mike Cox (R) -- was endorsed by Romney-rival former Arksanas Governor Mike Huckabee in March.

The primary is August 3.
