Connecticut congressman praises Huskies for historic streak

Connecticut Rep. Joe Courtney (D) on Tuesday took to Twitter to praise the University of Connecticut Huskies women's basketball team for their record-tying winning streak.

The Huskies have won 88-straight games, matching the streak of John Wooden's legendary UCLA Bruins men's teams in the 1970s.

UConn is going for its record-breaking 89th straight win on Tuesday night against the 22nd-ranked Florida State Seminoles in Hartford, Conn.

Courtney tweeted:

Congratulations to UConn women’s basketball and coach Auriemma. Break that record tonight! http://youtu.be/59vObFHzaP8

He included a YouTube clip of his floor speech commemorating the run:
