Sen. McCain tweets he will miss Joe Lieberman

Not long after Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) announced that he would not seek reelection in 2012, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) took to Twitter to say that he would miss his friend and longtime colleague.

"I'm going to miss you Joe “@JoeLieberman: 23 years after I announced my candidacy to the US Senate, today I am announcing that I will not seek re-election to a fifth term," McCain tweeted.

In a press conference Wednesday afternoon Lieberman announced that he would not run for a fifth term in the U.S. Senate. He tweeted his announcement soon after the press conference.

Lieberman, McCain, and Sen. Lindsay Graham (R-S.C.) have been Senate friends since they each entered the upper chamber. Graham has not yet tweeted anything about Lieberman's announcement.
