Ill. GOPer wishes Facebook a 'happy birthday'
Facebook has a fan in Rep. Joe Walsh (R-Ill.), who noted the seventh anniversary of the network's founding on Twitter Friday.
Walsh tweeted: “Happy 7th Birthday @Facebook !!”
Walsh, a freshman, used Facebook as a communication tool throughout his campaign, and recently announced his goal of reaching 500 "fans” on his official page. As of Friday, his self-proclaimed deadline, he had 512.
House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) also tweeted a birthday message to Facebook. He included a link to a post on his official Facebook page that praised Facebook for "playing a central role in helping people connect with their Congress and interact with government as a whole."
Cantor also praised the network as an example of free market principles: "[T]hink of it, a project that began in a dorm room just seven years ago has now grown into a billion dollar company and created thousands of jobs," he said.
