Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) was so thrilled by the impending start of spring training baseball that he took to Twitter to express his glee.

Kerry noted today that it's "Truck Day," the day when the Boston Red Sox pack up their equipment and head down to their spring training home in Fort Myers, Fla.

Kerry tweeted:

Move over Punxsutawney Phil, Truck Day = first official sign of spring

Pitchers and catchers report to spring training on Sunday, and soon thereafter the baseball season will be under way.

Kerry's jab, of course, was directed toward Pennsylvania's furry prognosticator, Punxsutawney Phil, the groundhog who last Wednesday predicted the onset of an early spring.
