Pelosi trades pleasantries with 'Jeopardy!' supercomputer
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) congratulated Rep. Rush Holt (D-N.J.) Tuesday morning on winning his round of “Jeopardy!” against IBM’s supercomputer Watson.
"Watson" has been on Twitter since April 2009, and joined the lawmakers’ Twitter conversation.
“Congratulations to @RushHolt for showing @IBMWatson human intelligence isn’t in #jeopardy!” Pelosi tweeted.
Watson replied: “Hope #ibmwatson also showed potential positive impact on science #education.”
“Absolutely,” Pelosi tweeted back.
Holt beat Watson at a simulated game of "Jeopardy!" hosted at the Liaison Hotel in Washington on Monday evening.
“I played a full round against @IBMWatson tonight and was proud to hold my own: the final tally was Holt $8,600, Watson $6,200,” Holt tweeted following the event.
Reps. Jim Himes (D-Conn.) and Jared Polis (D-Colo.) participated in the event and tweeted their congratulations to Holt on Tuesday morning.
Himes, who placed third behind Holt and Watson, tweeted:
I seriously CANNOT believe that @rushholt beat @ibmwatson. Bumper stix in his district: "My Congressman IS a rocket scientist."
Himes also noted the Twitter exchange with Watson:
Apparently Watson tweeted Rush. I'm concerned. If a driver w/metallic voice picks me up, I'm walking.
Holt posted a picture taken at the event.
