A Democratic lawmaker joked that her colleagues will need a special St. Patrick's Day drink, considering what Congress is debating on Thursday.

Second-term Rep. Chellie Pingree (Maine) took to Twitter to quip about the House considering federal funding for NPR and the war in Afghanistan:

DC goes a little crazy on 3/17, the day starts with green donuts and ends with green beer. http://t.co/HHriDbf

Also today we're debating bringing the war to an end and defending NPR — we're going to need that green beer tonight.

The House is set to vote Thursday on a Democratic resolution to remove U.S. forces and a Republican bill that permanently defunds NPR.

Sláinte, congresswoman.
