Actor Leonardo DiCaprio echoed Democrats' calls for closing tax loopholes on oil companies via Twitter.

"Big oil is making huge profits & getting billions in US taxpayer subsidies. End #oilsubsidies," DiCaprio tweeted on Tuesday.

The Senate is scheduled to vote Tuesday on legislation that would eliminate certain tax breaks for the five largest oil companies. The firms argue they are being singled out, noting other companies benefit from similar tax breaks.

Democrats argue the nation can't afford to give the tax breaks to oil companies because they earn high profits and the nation's deficit.
