Schumer tweeted on Monday he is looking for a new roommate who has 20 years of experience in the House of Representatives, an unmatched legislative record and is a “lover of cold cereal.”

Schumer, one of the original roommates who inspired the TV series “Alpha House,” made the joke after his roommate — and landlord — Rep. George Miller (D-Calif.) announced his retirement Monday.

A Schumer spokesman said he does not know what Miller's retirement will do to the living situation in the house.

Miller bought the house in the 1970s and began renting it out to lawmakers in 1982, according to an article in The New York Times about the living situation.

When the profile ran in 2007, Durbin joked that people seemed interested in doing a television show about the house until they realized that “the story of four middle-aged men, with no sex and violence, is not going to last two weeks.”

However, Amazon commissioned a series about four Republican senators living under one roof that is currently airing on its website.

During the profile, it was Schumer who seemed to be the lover of cereal, especially the stuff Miller had purchased.

“I love cereal,” Schumer was quoted as saying while “depleting a box that Mr. Miller had just purchased,” according to the profile.
