Wasserman Schultz says Giffords ‘doing great’

Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz had lunch with Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) and her husband, astronaut Mark Kelly, on Friday.

Wasserman Schultz noted that Giffords is doing well and tweeted that she had a nice time with Kelly and Giffords, with whom she has been close friends.

“So nice having lunch w/ @Rep_Giffords & @ShuttleCDRKelly today! Check out Mark on cover of @Esquiremag this month! Gabby is doing great! <3,” she tweeted.

Wasserman Schultz spearheaded a resolution, ultimately approved, in the House earlier this year to name a room in the Capitol after Giffords’s slain staffer Gabe Zimmerman and has publicly pledged to do all she can to support Giffords’s recovery and eventual return to legislation.
