Several members of Congress joined the Internet protest against a controversial online piracy bill on Wednesday, changing their Twitter avatars out of solidarity with the opposition.
Legislators included Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), Sen. Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) and Rep. Bruce Braley (D-Iowa).
Issa and Braley also tweeted a few of the results of the protest.
Issa tweeted: “more than 54,000 Americans have visited http://KeepTheWebOPEN.com today.”
Braley tweeted: “I've received over 1000 emails in the last few days on #SOPA!”
Moran offered his avatar, which read “Keep the web #open” for use by his followers.
