After a year of recovery, Rep. Giffords finishes 'Congress on Your Corner' event

Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) on Monday finished last year's "Congress on Your Corner" event — roughly a year after the Jan. 8 rampage in which she was shot in the head.

At the time of the shooting, Giffords was in the midst of the constituent meeting outside a Tucson, Ariz., grocery store.

"Rep. Giffords finishing the Congress on Your Corner event she started a year ago on 1/8/11," Giffords's Twitter page said.

Giffords is completing the event just ahead of her planned resignation from Congress; on Sunday she announced that she would step down from her seat. Prior to that, her office said she planned to attend President Obama's State of the Union event and finish the Congress on Your Corner event.
